Radio Silence is back with their latest film, “Abigail,” and it’s a wild ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Melissa Barrera shines as the modern-day Scream queen, firmly establishing herself in the horror genre.
The movie kicks off with a tense sequence involving the kidnapping of a little ballerina girl named Abigail. From there, the action unfolds in an old house, reminiscent of “Ready or Not.” But here’s the twist: Abigail is the one doing all the killing. Drum roll, please—she’s a vampire! The marketing team might have spoiled this surprise, but the film still delivers plenty of shocks, thrills, and blood spills.
“Abigail” echoes “Ready or Not” in its style of violence, with exploding bodies aplenty. It also subverts vampire genre conventions—none of the usual “how to kill a vampire” rules apply here. Dan Stevens shines as the mysterious team leader, Frank, and Alisha Weir proves her versatility as a child actor with her excellent villainous role.
Overall, “Abigail” is one of the vampire horror movies in recent times. Let’s hope for a sequel in the not-too-distant future!
