Bhakshak: A Social Drama That Fails to Deliver

πŸŒ•πŸŒ•πŸŒ—πŸŒ‘πŸŒ‘ 2.5/5

Bhakshak, directed by Pulkit, is a film that aims to expose the atrocities committed against young girls in a shelter home in Bihar. The film revolves around Vaishali Singh (Bhumi Pednekar), a journalist who works for Koshish News, a local news channel run by Bhaskar Sinha (Sanjay Mishra). When she receives a social audit report from an informer, Gupta (Durgesh Kumar), that reveals the horrific abuse faced by the girls in the shelter home, she decides to investigate the matter and bring the truth to light. However, she faces many obstacles and dangers along the way, as the shelter home is run by a powerful and corrupt politician, Aditya Srivastava (Aditya Srivastava).

The film has a noble intention of highlighting a serious social issue that needs urgent attention. The film also has some commendable performances by the lead actors, especially Bhumi Pednekar, who portrays the role of a courageous and determined journalist with conviction.

The film’s weak screenplay and direction reduce its impact. The film misses a thrilling and urgent narrative. The film has many logical errors and poor details that lower its credibility. The film does not clarify how the social audit report was made, or how the shelter home was isolated from the police and media. The film also ignores the character of the main villain, Aditya Srivastava. The film ends with a moralistic dialogue that questions society’s humanity, but the film does not convey a strong message that can motivate the audience.

The technical aspects of the film are decent, but not remarkable. The songs are average, but the background score is effective. The cinematography by Kumar Saurabh is neat, but the editing is choppy. The production values are adequate, but the film could have used more resources to create a better impact.

In conclusion, Bhakshak is a film that tries to address a relevant and important topic, but falls short of expectations. The film has some good performances and emotional moments, but the film is marred by a lackluster script and direction. The film could have been a gripping and inspiring thriller, but instead, IT is a slow and disappointing drama.
